I’m interested in doing research on various subjects including art and architecture.
I have a degree in History of Art and I have been a researcher of one kind or another for most of my professional life. I specialise in art, architectural and local historical research, a service which has grown out of my production of several walking tours.
CASE STUDY: I researched, planned, wrote and recorded a digital audio tour for the Creative Quarter, Nottingham. Acting as project manager, I coordinated with a local sound engineer and representatives from the local cultural community to produce a multi-media smart phone app.
CASE STUDY: I undertook in-depth socio-historical, architectural and picture research on two of Watson Fothergill’s buildings in Nottingham for a corporate client. This work contributed to a post-graduate project looking at masonry conservation.
CASE STUDY: At the request of BBC Radio Nottingham, I researched the history of The Bodega, a Nottingham pub and music venue. I appeared on the Alan Clifford show to talk about my findings about the building.
I am based in Nottinghamshire and can access archives in Nottingham and the surrounding area.
My experience is mainly with Victorian and early 20th-century properties, but where appropriate resources are available, I am happy to investigate older properties.
If you’d like to find out who lived in your house through time or maybe you want to discover if a renowned architect was involved in designing your property, please contact me to arrange a research package.
